The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has eventually issued a statement in response to the growing concern over a potential increase in the price of Premium motor spirit popularly known as Petrol.

The statement posted on the official X handle of the NNPCL which reads “Dear esteemed customers,we at NNPCL retail value your patronage, and we do not have the intention to increase our PMS pump prices as widely speculated”. “Please buy the best quality product at the most affordable prices are our NNPCL retail station nationwide”, the company assured the general populace.

This is coming as a result of the announcement made on Sunday by oil marketers that the cost of petrol could increase to as much as 720 naira per litre if the exchange rate of the dollar continues to rise.
They also noted that many dealers are being forced to put their plans to import fuel on hold due to a lack of foreign exchange. The warning comes as the cost of the dollar at the parallel market has reached a new high.
