On Thursday, August 17, 2023, a court in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, sentenced former Transport Minister Vincent Dabilgou to 11 years in prison for embezzlement of public funds, money laundering, and illegal political party financing.

The court also ordered Dabilgou to pay a fine of €4.7 million and suspended his party, Nouveau Temps pour la Démocratie (NTD), from political activities.

The court found him guilty of embezzling over two million dollars during his tenure as minister. This is a clear message that the country will not tolerate corruption at any level.
