Gov Bago expresses concern over increase in substance abuse among youths

Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has expressed great concern over increased consumption of substance leading to rising substance abuse and restiveness among youths in the state.
He expressed this during the World Youth Day celebration organized by the Niger chapter of the Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWINCAN) with the theme: ”Drug Abuse and Youth Restiveness, a Lost For Future Generation”.
The event was organized to educate, create awareness on the need for combined efforts to fight youth restiveness activities and the wrong use of drugs among youths. These activities oftentimes lead to innocent citizens falling prey to the outcome of the influence of drugs.
Mr Jonathan Vatsa, the Special Adviser on Public Private Partnership, representing the governor called on parents, stakeholders, relevant agencies to partner with the state government to fight drug abuse and youth restiveness.
He requested for active measures to be put in place to reduce the increased rate at which the younger generation engage in substance abuse. As the society needs a healthy generation that is free from drugs.
Governor Bago duely commended the Youth Wing of Christians Association of Nigeria (YOWINCAN) for the initiative.
Also, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State, Reverend Bulus Yohanna who was represented by his Vice, Rev. Ezekiel Ibrahim, appreciated the youth wing of the association for bringing relevant stakeholders together to deliberate on ways to end the drug menace ravaging the society.
