The Lagos state Government has disbursed the total of 2.7 billion naira to 644 retirees as part of their retirement benefits.
The payment was made during the 101st Retirement Bond certificate presentation, held at Alausa Secretariat in Ikeja.
Speaking at the event,Babalola Obilana, the Director-General of Lagos State Pension commission (LASPEC) said the payment covered the period of service before the start of the CPS in 2007. Obilana emphasized that the payment reflected the state’s commitment to the welfare of its retirees who had served Lagos State dedicatedly.
He said, “This retirement bond certificate presentation is not just a formality;it is a moment to reflect upon the remarkable contributions you all have made. Your unwavering dedication has helped to shape Lagos State into the Centre of Excellence it is today.
“These retirement bond certificates symbolise more than just financial rewards; they represent the trust and confidence we have in our retirees.
While speaking at the same event, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mr Olawale Musa applauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of retired public servants, both during and after their careers.
He however admonished the retirees to spend their retirements funds wisely and urged them to contact LASPEC or the ministry with any questions or concerns about their pensions.
