AFAN Ogun State Chapter Refutes Reports of Farmers’ Meeting with PDP Guber Candidate, Ladi Adebutu

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ogun State Chapter, has dismissed reports that its branch in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area welcomed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, to a meeting in support of his governorship ambition.

The AFAN Youth Chairman in Ogun State, Hon. Jamiu Kolawole Adebukanla, in a statement issued on behalf of the AFAN Ogun State Chairperson, Alhaja Ganiyat Ibilola Kusimo, dismissed in its entirety reports circulating in the media that the association had met with Hon. Adebutu.

Hon. Adebukanla said that no AFAN Local Government Chapter in Ogun State organised, or endorsed, any such gathering, and noted that any individual who had met with the PDP Governorship candidate did so in their personal capacity, and not on behalf of AFAN.

Hon. Adebukanla stressed AFAN’s non-partisan nature, saying the association is strictly focused on promoting farmers’ welfare and interests in the state.

He further urged members of the public to disregard the reports and rely exclusively on AFAN’s official communication channels for accurate updates and information.

The statement reads in full, “The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ogun State Chapter, under the leadership of Alhaja Ganiyat Ibilola Kusimo, wishes to categorically dissociate itself from the news circulating that farmers in Ado-Odo/Ota welcomed Hon. Ladi Adebutu in support of his governorship ambition in Ogun State.

“We received the report with great surprise. We wish to state clearly that no AFAN Local Government Chapter in Ogun State organised, participated in, or endorsed such a gathering. Specifically, the AFAN Chairman in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government and members of the association have confirmed that they had no knowledge of such an event.

“Therefore, the publication is false, misleading, and does not represent the position of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ogun State Chapter, under the leadership of Alhaja Ganiyat Ibilola Kusimo and the State Executive Council.

“AFAN is a non-partisan association committed to promoting the welfare, development, and interests of farmers across Ogun State. We do not endorse or participate in partisan political activities in the name of the association.

“Anyone who attended or represented themselves as speaking on behalf of farmers at the said gathering did so in their personal capacity and should not be regarded as representing AFAN, Ogun State.

“We urge members of the public to disregard the misleading report and always seek clarification from the official leadership of AFAN, Ogun State, on matters concerning the association.”
