Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun says taxi operations will return to Ijebu-Ode within six months, several years after taxis stopped operating there.
Governor Abiodun disclosed this on Friday during the commissioning of the Tam Balogun Road, Stadium Road and Luba Road projects in Ijebu-Ode, totalling six kilometres.
Governor Abiodun said taxi operations had previously shut down in Ijebu-Ode due to deplorable roads in the local government area, a situation that led him to declare a “state of emergency” on Ijebu-Ode roads upon assuming office in 2019.
As we commissioned the newly reconstructed Stadium–Luba–Tam Balogun Road in Ijebu-Ode, we reaffirmed our commitment to delivering transformational infrastructure and economic development across Ogun State.

The Governor stated that his administration has reconstructed 26 roads in the Ijebu-Ode local government area, with 12 additional road projects currently under construction, thereby giving Ijebu-Ode roads a brand-new look.

He also expressed satisfaction with the improvement in Ijebu-Ode’s road infrastructure and said his trip from Abeokuta, the state capital, to Ijebu-Ode was smooth sailing due to better roads.
With better roads in place, Governor Abiodun said his government will support the private sector to launch taxi operations that match Ijebu-Ode’s status as the capital of Ijebu land.
Governor Abiodun urged residents to take ownership of the newly commissioned roads and avoid dumping refuse in drainage channels, noting that the project was funded with taxpayers’ money.
